I just started reading The Mind of the South by W. J. Cash and was checking up on his creds


I am totally offended that Wikipedia includes Texas as part of the South (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_United_States).
I'm allowed to think this...I lived in southern Texas for 10 years.
Texas is its own region.

I have my own opinions of what the South is, what the people are like, etc...

I really really despise the stereotype that southerners are stupid. People EVERYWHERE are stupid.

I hate it when people get embarrassed about southern accents.

Having southern pride is NOT the same as wanting the South to "rise again" and re-embrace slavery or segregation.

anyway. woohoo saturday night. heh.

i am often asked if people in the south are more racist than elsewhere. i think that most of the time (especially in the north) they are looking for a big, fat "yes"
